Website Accessibility Statement

Parent to Parent of Georgia’s Website Accessibility Statement:

Parent to Parent of Georgia (P2P) has made a conscious effort to make this website accessible to everyone. If you have problems accessing something on the website or have a suggestion for improving the website’s accessibility, please use our contact us form

Standards Compliance:

This website follows WCAG 2.0 Level AA accessibility guidelines. As such, the site should be accessible to individuals who use various technology supports such as screen readers and screen magnification. Additional information about WCAG 2.0 Level AA accessibility guidelines may be found at (external non-P2P website): http://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG20/.

Making the text larger or smaller:

The P2P website is designed to meet the needs of visitors who need text of different sizes. The content uses “relative sizing,” so that you can use the browser’s controls or assistive technology to change the font size (the exact method will depend on your browser or assistive technology). Headings will always be larger than paragraph text, so that the visual display will be clear.

The site uses a “fluid” design, so that the text flows to match the space of the browser’s window. If you change the size of the browser window or the text, the content will, over a wide range, remain within the right and left margins of the window.

Images

The P2P website includes images both to improve the appeal of the site and to convey information. The site also includes the information conveyed by the image in the alt-text or long description of the image, so that those who cannot access the images have the full benefit of the site.

Menu Navigation

All menus on the P2P site can be navigated using the mouse, keyboard, or touch screen. For efficiency, the site includes drop-down menus that are not currently keyboard accessible. Selecting the top level of the menu will take you to a page that provides links to each of the pages available via the drop-down menu.

Headings and Semantics

If your assistive technology allows you to navigate via headings, you will find the P2P site supports that. Major sections are delineated by top level headers, with subsections marked by subheadings in logical progression.

Links

Links have been written to provide context and information about what they link to. Links that take you to an external website have been indicated. Links are represented by a different hex color.

Color Schemes and Contrast

The colors of the text have been selected to have a high contrast from the background to make text stand out clearly and be easy to read. All text in the site has a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 between any text and its background. Static text (i.e., text that you cannot interact with) is in a black font.

PDF (.PDF) Documents

Portable Document Format (PDF) is sometimes used to preserve the content and formatting of publications and other items that were intended for distribution by hard copy (e.g., paper-based). If you cannot access or read a .pdf created by P2P, please use our contact form to alert us.

If you are using a screen reader to access the website, you may need Adobe Reader or some similar program to open and read the PDF files. If you have a screen reader, you may also need Access Adobe. You can download Adobe Reader and Access Adobe for free from Adobe’s website at (external non-P2P website) http://www.adobe.com/.

If you have any problems navigating the website, please report them to P2P by using our contact form.  We appreciate your feedback.
